National sweater day

A student wrapped up in her sweater

National Sweater Day gives Canadians the opportunity to show their commitment to the planet by turning down their thermostats and wearing a sweater. Wearing a sweater at home or on campus is a symbolic gesture of support for rethinking our energy consumption; it's a fun, quirky and energetic way of starting a dialogue about energy conservation.

Every day we hear more and more about climate change, resource depletion, and energy dependence. As Canadians, we must deal with the fact that we are amongst the world’s largest users of energy and greatest generators of greenhouse gasses. Our hope is to create awareness in the community and offer simple and fun alternatives to our energy problems.

Ugly Sweater Photo Competition
We encourage teams or individuals to get together and take pictures wearing their sweaters. The best individual or group picture will win a prize from the Office of Campus Sustainability. Bonus points for ugly sweaters!
