Waste Bucket Challenge

WASTE BUCKET CHALLENGE (#uORecycle) RULES

Within 48 hours of being challenged, participants must publicly accept or decline the challenge. Should participants decline the challenge, they will be encouraged to do some volunteering with the Office of Campus Sustainability* (or face the wrath of their friends!).

The challenge must run for a minimum of one week (7 days) and be completed before April 1, 2017 to be considered for the prize.

After completing the challenge, participants are strongly encouraged to create and post their own videos in order to nominate their friends to participate. Declining participants are also encouraged to nominate others by making a short video or sharing photos on Instagram.

The video must be a minimum of 30 seconds in length and must

  • State the length of time you’ve chosen for the challenge (minimum of 7 days)
  • Show the amount of waste you’ve produced
  • Name at least one friend (a new participant) you are challenging

In order for us to track the progress of the Waste Bucket Challenge, use the hashtag #uORecycle when you post videos or photos on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

To be considered for the prize, the video or photos must be posted on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter (during the RecycleMania contest period: January-March 2017), and tagged with the hashtag: #uORecycle.
The prize winner will be announced in early April.
